Privacy Policy
'OnlineCTR Launcher' and 'Game Engine'.
OnlineCTR is a free, community-made project. It does not require an account and does not collect personal data for its own sake. This section explains what the launcher and the game handle, and where it goes.
What stays on your computer
The launcher keeps its settings in a data folder next to OnlineCTR.exe: your chosen username, the path to your disc image, which build is installed, how many times the launcher has been opened, and whether you have dismissed the donation prompt. Nothing is written to the Windows registry or your user profile. Deleting the launcher's folder removes all of it.
If the launcher crashes it writes crash.dmp and crash.txt next to itself. These stay on your computer unless you choose to send them to us. A crash dump can include the launcher's memory at the time of the crash, which may contain your username and file paths.
What the launcher sends over the internet
The launcher contacts online-ctr.com to check for updates, download game files, and show server status and patch notes. It downloads the DuckStation emulator from github.com. These are ordinary web requests carrying no personal information, though like any web request they reveal your IP address to the server that answers them. We do not do anything with your IP address however and it is kept anonymous at all times.
What the game sends
When you launch the game, your username is passed to the OnlineCTR client, which sends it to the game server so that other players can see who they are racing. The server also sees your IP address, as any online service must in order to connect you. We use connection data to show how many players are online for 24 hours.
Third parties
Links in the launcher open Discord, GitHub and Buy Me a Coffee in your browser. Those services have their own privacy policies. DuckStation is third-party software governed by its own licence.
